iLost, pao gained: The unlikely tale of an iPhone swapped for bhaji pao in Goa

iLost, pao gained: The unlikely tale of an iPhone swapped for bhaji pao in Goa

In a plot twist that could rival the quirkiest of sitcoms, a Delhi man’s Goa escapade took an unexpected turn when his prized iPhone went AWOL, only to resurface as payment for a humble plate of bhaji pao! Yes, you heard that right “ a high-end gadget worth a pretty penny exchanged for a street-side snack that wouldn’t break the bank.

The tale begins with @KartikeyaRai11, a Delhiite on a quest for sun, sand, and a good time in Goa. Little did he know that his adventure would take a turn for the absurd when a pickpocket's antics left him phoneless. "A drunk dude pickpocketed my phone in Goa (I was equally drunk)," he shared in his social media post, setting the scene for this epic misadventure.

Now hold onto your bhaji, because the plot thickens! The phone's journey took a detour to a local eatery, where hunger pangs trumped any semblance of logic or moral compass.

Rai narrated, “The drunk dude then got very hungry and went to eat bhaji pao in a small shop but he had no money to pay for it so he took out the red iPhone and tried to trade that for the bhaji pao.”

Picture the scene: a bewildered eatery owner, faced with the unorthodox barter offer, decides to roll with it. Charging the phone and serving up the steaming hot bhaji pao, he unwittingly becomes a pivotal character in this bizarre saga.

Fast forward 36 hours, and the phone starts ringing “ much to everyone's astonishment! Miraculously, it's the rightful owner on the line, tracing his device back to its new home a staggering 60 kilometres away from the scene of the "iCrime."

As the news spread like wildfire and the internet had a field day with this tale."Now that’s a story for the grandchildren," chuckled one commenter, with another musing, "Oh, the bhaji pao must've been THAT good!"

In a world where smartphones are often the centre of our universe, who knew they could also serve as currency for a hearty meal? As they say, truth is indeed stranger than fiction, especially when bhaji pao is involved.
