Panchayat Workers Union urges immediate implementation of 7th pay commission

Panchayat Workers Union urges immediate implementation of 7th pay commission

Panchayat Workers Union, with the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), gathered at Azad Maidan, Panaji on Thursday, urging the immediate implementation of the seventh pay commission.

Representatives from various corners of the state, including clerks, peons, and messenger boys, converged, expressing frustration over the prolonged delay despite assurances from the government.

"We have been advocating for the implementation of the seventh pay commission since its inception in 2016. It's been eight years now, and despite a gazette notification in 2019 affirming its implementation, we find ourselves still waiting," said Advocate Raju Mangeshkar.

"Last year, during a Panchayat workers conference, both the Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister assured us of its imminent execution, yet here we are, still waiting for concrete action," added Mangeshkar.

The union members voiced concerns over the government's failure to translate promises into action, despite purportedly obtaining financial approval.

In addition to their demand for the immediate implementation of the pay commission, the union called for a revamp of the old staffing pattern, which has remained unchanged for the past 30 years.

The union urged the Chief Minister and Panchayat Minister to heed their pleas and take immediate action to address the longstanding grievances of Panchayat employees.
