MARGAO: Officials of the Legal Metrology has seized substantial quantity of imported cigarettes from both North and South Goa, which were sold in the market in violation of laid down rules.
The Legal Metrology officials pointed out that the Cigarettes packets had no declaration and neither was there any display of the names of the importer, absence of MRP and the month when the goods were imported in the country.
The officials pointed out that they could not assess the exact value of the seized cigarettes for the simply reason the MRP was not reflected on the packets.
