In a major decision, the government has appointed the District Collectors to head the District Road Safety Committees instead of the Members of Parliament.
That’s not all. The District Road Safety Committee has now been given a long list of briefs on how to go about the matter, including periodic reviews of the road accidents in the district and monitoring the implementation of the State Road Safety Policy and the targets set under it.
Given the situation and the reconstitution of the South Goa District Road Safety Committee headed by the District Collectors, the meeting of the South district road safety committee to be chaired by South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha at the district Collectorate, South on Thursday stands cancelled.
