Indian classical music scheme in memory of Kishori Amonkar

The state department has formulated a scheme for Indian Classical Music in memory of famous vocalist Kishori Amonkar who passed away recently.

The scheme initiated by Kala Academy titled the Gaan Saraswati Kishoritai Amonkar Research Fellowship in Indian Classical Music aims to encourage and help Goan students in the field.   
The scheme will remain in force up to March 31, 2022, and will be awarded to two people, one at the junior level and one at the senior level to undertake research in the field of Indian Classical Music through vocals, dance and instrument.   
Any individual who has completed his/her post-graduation in music and is below 30 years of age is eligible to undertake research in the junior category.   
In case of exceptionally talented students and musician of proven record with authentic work to their credit, the rules regarding educational qualifications may be relaxed, if recommended by the Selection Committee.   
Eligible scholars for junior category will be awarded a fellowship of Rs 1,20,000 per annum for a maximum period for 2 years while scholars for senior category will be awarded a fellowship of Rs 1,80,000 per annum for a maximum period for 2 years.   
Every year KA shall release a press advertisement inviting applications for the “Gaan Saraswati Kishoritai Amonkar Research Fellowship”. The Selection Committee constituted for the purpose by Kala Academy from time to time will then select the scholars for the fellowship.
