In a shocking incident, the body of an infant was found dumpedin a dustbin at Gandhinagar-Vasco on Friday afternoon.
Sources said the baby boy was nude and a school uniform wasfound near the body.
The incident came to light when a local spotted the body in thebin and alerted others and Ward Councillor Dhanpal Swamy, who notified thepolice.
The police went to the site and began investigations into theincident, but were unclear about the infant’s identity.
Sources said the uniform found near the body could help Vascopolice with some clues in the incident as the uniform belonged to a school inBaina and residents claim the baby could have belonged to a resident of Bainaor areas near Gandhinagar.
“I was shocked to hear news of the incident and this is a verysad incident. We are not sure if the infant has died here in the bin or whetherthe body was dumped there.”
“The parents should have handed over the baby to an orphanageor to people willing to adopt kids instead of dumping the infant in a bin,”said Swamy.
Meanwhile, sources at the Vasco police station said theinfant’s body was sent to GMC hospital for preservation, as investigations areunderway.
