An inmate Abhishek from Colvale jail played hide and seek with the jailer after returning from his hearing at the Margao court, and went missing for about seven hours.
The jail administration had to undertake a search operation for seven hours before the missing prisoner was found. The incident happened on Friday evening. The inmate was taken to Margao in the afternoon for the court hearing of his case. The police brought him back at about 6 pm and handed over to the prison keepers.
The reserved police force checked the prisoner and allowed him to enter but there was no body with him while he was in NDPS section. There were three doors from the main gate, and the prisoner hid in a store room near the gate. At 7 pm during the regular head counts, Abhishek was found missing. Then a thorough search was undertaken, and every room was checked. But the inmate was not found. Then past midnight at about 1 pm Abhishek was found hiding in the storeroom where decorative items were kept. He was sent to his cell, and the jail administration breathed a sigh of relief.
