Inquiry sought into Kranti Maidan work

Former CM Ravi Naik has demanded an inquiry into the renovation work of Kranti Maidan at Ponda.

Addressing a news conference on Sunday, Naik accused the PWD of carrying out the work without following procedures. “PWD accepted the tender submitted by a firm from Kundapur-Udupi for Rs 4,26,75,739, which is 17.44 per cent more than the estimated amount of Rs 3,63,36,823. An amount of Rs 13,17,553 has been paid to the consultant without issuing him the work order or acceptance letter,” Naik said.  Naik suspects a scam in this developmental work and has challenged CM Laxmikant Parsekar to initiate an inquiry. “I have obtained information under RTI, which proves misappropriation. I demand that inquiry should be conducted in this case,” he said.  According to Naik, PWD hastily started the work without taking permission from PMC and other departments.
