BDO Bardez Amitesh Sirwaikar informed that his office had received a complaint stating that despite a prohibition on construction within 50 metres of the highway, a construction was underway within 50 metres of the highway at Bastora.
“Acting on the complaint, the BDO sent notices to the Bastora sarpanch and the secretary to conduct inspection and initiate action in the matter. The BDO has also ordered the panchayat to submit a report in this connection,” he added.
According to sources, the complainant had approached the Bastora Panchayat before filing a complaint with the BDO, but claimed that the panchayat had done little to initiate action against those involved in the construction.
