An inspection of the ring road along the Old station road and the Cine Lata stretch has unearthed illegalities, including haphazard parking of scrap vehicles, parking by rent-a-car and bikes, besides encroachments along the stretch.
The inspection conducted by the Margao MLA Digambar Kamat with Additional Collector, South Srinet Kothwale, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar, Sub-divisional Police Officer, Margao DySP Santosh Desai and other officials revealed that some people have encroached along the acquired land, especially along the station road side.
In fact, the Margao MLA was heard telling DySP Santosh Desai that criminal activities have raised its ugly head along the station road in recent times, which had culminated in a murder case over a year ago.
“I have asked the collector officials to conduct demarcation and remove the encroachments from the land acquired for the ring road on the station road. Similarly, instructions have been issued to the police and other authorities to tow away scrap vehicles parked on the ring road stretch near Cine Lata. If the vehicles are parked by the garage owner, I have told the authorities to even shut down the garage”, Kamat told the media.
