All appears not well at the Margao Municipal Council garage at the old market as an inspection of the place by the Municipal Chairperson Pooja Naik revealed the garage lacked swachhta and was craving for attention from the civic body.
The inspection was carried out at the behest of the ward councillor Glen Andrade in order to find out the ground reality at the garage, which is being used only to park the municipal vehicles, including the garbage trucks. The inspection, however, revealed that the garage not only plays host to the garbage trucks, but waste as well dumped all over the place.
Given that the garbage and other municipal vehicles parked at the garage was found dirty and looked shabby, the MMC chairperson gave strict instructions to the workers to get the vehicles washed and cleaned regularly.
The site inspection has unearthed dumping of corrugated boxes and storage of bins at one place in the garage. The inspection has assumed significance and comes against the backdrop of the bucket of a heavy earth moving machinery going missing some days ago.
Sources said the inspection was intended to also check whether the security was in place at the garage.
The MMC chairperson prepared a note and forwarded the same to the Chief Officer for action.
Sources said the Chief Officer Ajit Panchwadkar has promised to visit the place to check the ground reality before initiating action.
