The Bombay High Court at Goa on Friday turned the screws on the organisers of Sunburn Klassique electronic dance music festival for going ahead with erecting structures at their venue in Vagator without permissions from the panchayat and directed that these be demolished forthwith.
The division bench of the High Court comprising Justices Mahesh Sonak and MS Jawalkar, in a separate petition filed against the organisers of the popular EDM festival, directed the Anjuna panchayat to ensure all the temporary structures put up at the site are removed, before pursuing the applications for NOCs from the local body for these same structures.

expressed their displeasure over the organisers paying no heed to an earlier order of the Court and going ahead with putting up the temporary structures. The Bench also did not heed the request of the organisers’ counsel Amey Kakodkar that structures which were put up before the interim order of December 18 be spared.
Sunburn Klassique is billed as the State’s biggest EDM festival this year and is slated to be held on December 27-29. The organisers have been working to get the venue ready on the back of an in-principle nod they got in June-July this year from the State government’s tourism department to host the event.
