IPL betting racket busted at Pernem; 2 held

The Crime Branch cracked down on yet another illegal betting racket concerning the Indian Premier League (IPL) with the arrest of two persons from Gujarat, who were subsequently released on bail. 

The accused, identified as Pratik Korat and Mihirbhai Parmar, both 29 years of age were caught red-handed while accepting online bets during the ongoing IPL 2024 match between Lucknow SuperGiants and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

They were arrested but were soon bailed out. The CB sleuths further seized laptops, mobile phones, and other gambling articles, worth Rs 1.5 lakh approx from the raided premises at Pernem. 

The department stated that the investigation revealed the accused facilitated betting activities through an app link and shared it via social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp to attract customers.
