After much discussions, it was resolved that the panchayat should pursue with the concerned authorities the question of demolition of the tower erected alongside the NH-17 at Dramapur.
The Sarpanch informed that the panchayat had already resolved to raze down the mobile tower at Dramapur since the process for the demolition was already initiated by the panchayat body.
He said the gram sabha has opposed a mobile tower proposed in one of the wards, adding that the panchayat would convene a special gram sabha if any applications are received from cellular companies to erect towers in the village. “Villages were concerned about the health hazard posed by the towers and the safety measures put in place by the companies,” Rebello said, while saying that the panchayat would call a special gram sabha to discuss only the issue of mobile towers in the village. On the annual budget, the Sarpanch said that the members suggested that the panchayat should first circulate a copy of the budget estimates before the meeting, which has been taken note. A resolution was also taken to desilt the public wells located in the village.
Areal says a firm no to installations
MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Gram Sabha said a firm no to the insatllation of mobile towers in the village.
The Gram Sabha also resolved to seek a detailed daily report recorded on the dust pollution machine from a factory in the village.
Among other resolutions passed at the meet included the request to construct a footbridge at the railway crossing in Galli Ward of the village.
The Gram Sabha, which was convened on Sunday, also passed the budget, where the expenditure was pegged at Rs 1 crore, 9 lakhs, 77 thousand. Bio-Diversity Committee was also constituted at the Gram sabha.
The matter pertaining to the alleged pollution emanating from a factory in the village was also discussed. While sarpanch Perris D’Costa claimed that the panchayat has written to the Goa State Pollution Control Board expressing support for any decision as regards curbing pollution emanating from this factory, the locals demanded more effective measures to arrest the rising pollution levels. They claimed the pollution was turning out to be hazardous to the residents of the village.

this factory.
