An Information Technology (IT) Department officer who allegedly demanded a bribe from a job aspirant has been suspended after a preliminary inquiry confirmed his involvement.
A viral audio clip of a conversation between IT Deputy Director Siddhart Borkar and the candidate, where the former allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh in exchange for a contract basis job as the Senior Associate (Social Media) position in InfoTech Corporation of Goa (ITG), had exposed the alleged crime.
The order was issued by Vigilance Director Dipak Bandekar on Wednesday evening, after approval from the government.
The ITG, in November 2023, had advertised the position with a monthly salary of Rs 75,000.
