The Opposition has once again come down heavily on the State government over the unending issues with the renovated Kala Academy.

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao called the incident shameful and said the government had continuously ignored the concerns raised by local artists, which had now resulted in a major embarrassment.

“It is disheartening to see the Marathi play ‘Purush’ at Kala Academy being halted due to yet another technical glitch. Goan artists have repeatedly raised concerns about faulty infrastructure and errors after the academy’s refurbishment/renovation, seemingly falling on deaf ears,” he said, adding,

“This is a shame for this land of art and theatre. Is the government drafting the death certificate of the iconic Kala Academy?”

Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai also reacted sharply, urging the government to fix the issue without delay. He questioned whether the government would act on the Marathi actor’s observations or dismiss them like the repeated concerns raised by local tiatrists and activists.

“Marathi actor Sharad Ponkshe exposing Kala Academy mismanagement – can we expect the government to fix the blame and take action, or will Ponkshe’s observations be ignored like the often-repeated similar observations of Goemkar tiatrists and activists?” he said.

Alemao further stated that the situation demands immediate corrective measures by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, especially now that a renowned artist like Ponkshe has publicly expressed disappointment over the technical snags.
