PANAJI: The Judicial Magistrate First Class on Wednesday remanded Vibhesh Prabhudessai, the Junior Engineer at GTDC arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe, to three days police custody.
“The ACB officials have also searched the house of Prabhudessai at Curchorem but nothing was found there,” Police Inspector Francis Corte said.
ACB had on Tuesday arrested Vibhesh Prabhudessai who was allegedly caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a transport contractor whose bills were pending clearance.
He was demanding Rs 40,000 as commission from the contractor but it was negotiated and reduced to Rs 5,000. The complainant has recorded the conversation after which he approached ACB with the complaint.
As the arrest was made late in the evening on Tuesday, the engineer was produced on Wednesday before JMFC who granted 3-days custody.
