JEE-Main replaces GCET for admission to engineering

Admission to BPharm will be JEE-Main or NEET

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) on Tuesday announced that the students seeking admission to engineering degree courses, for the academic year 2024-25,  will have to answer the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main) 2024, to be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in February and April.

Also, the admissions to BPharm will be based on the best aggregate score in the subjects of physics and chemistry, either at JEE-Main 2024 or National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2024. Accordingly, the aspirants for admissions to BPharm course can opt to answer JEE Main or NEET or Both.

From this year onwards, the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) stands scrapped. Since 2005, the GCET has been an essential criterion in the State to determine merit for admissions to engineering degree seats. On average, 2,500 students answer this exam, annually. The last GCET was conducted in 2023.

The DTE has issued a public notice informing the aspirants about the development. The Session-2 (JEE-Main) 2024 is scheduled to be held between April 1 to April 15.

Aspirants who have registered for Session-1 (JEE-Main)-2024 earlier, as well as aspirants who have not registered for Session-1 (JEE-Main) -2024, can register for Session-2 (JEE-Main)-2024.
