The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC), which oversees the power sector in Goa, has notified that it intends to tweak the conduct of business rules in the sector and has sought feedback from stakeholders.
The changes the JERC is proposing mostly deal with hiking the fees for licences and the use of existing infrastructure for companies and entities doing business in the power sector, permitted under various sections of the Electricity Act.
The hike in fees proposed is substantial, including in some cases up to 400 per cent, and applies to companies licensed and authorised to do business in the power sector, including transmission and distribution of power.
