A JMFC court on Thursday will take up the hearing of a petition seeking the cancellation of a bail granted to an accused in connection with a land deal case in Salvador de Mundo.

According to sources, the case pertains to a real estate developer based in Delhi who claimed to have been cheated of Rs 4 crore allegedly by a Dona Paula-based businessman in connection with a joint venture land development project in Salvador do Mundo.

The complainant said he had entered into a joint venture agreement with the accused, Ismeet Singh Jaggi (37), to develop land in Salvador do Mundo. The complainant accused Jaggi of cheating and misappropriating Rs 3.5 crore on the pretext of the joint venture, and further cheating him of Rs 50 lakh on account of a refundable security deposit.

The complainant also alleged that he was threatened by the accused, prompting him to file a complaint with Porvorim police.

Acting on a police complaint lodged by the complainant, Porvorim police in September 2025 had booked Jaggi on charges of cheating and extortion under Sections 308(4), 308(5), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. He was later arrested in the connection.

Police investigations revealed that the amount which had been transferred from the accounts of the complainant, was later transferred by the accused to multiple accounts, including some abroad. The money was alleged used for personal benefits and not for the purpose of the land development deal.

Sources said the accused was reportedly denied bail on two occasions and sent to police custody, before he was finally released on bail.

The JMFC court has now been moved to seek the cancellation of the bail to the accused for allegedly violating his bail conditions.
