Success stories are always inspiring and one such story is of Jyotindra Gajanan Sinai Sambari. Jyotindra, son of Gajanan Bhiku Sinai Sambari and Hirabai Gajanan Sambari was born on May 31, 1951, in Sanguem.
He completed his elementary education in Sanguem and graduated in Arts at the Chowgule College in Margao. In 1974, Jyotindra moved to Bombay and served Richardson Hindustan Ltd (now P&G Ltd). In 1981 he returned to Goa to work for DCI Pharma Ltd in Margao owned by Ramnath G Kare.
Mentored by his father, Gajanan Sambari, a visionary businessman, Jyotindra founded Sambari Enterprises, a pharma distribution enterprise in November 1983. The business set up in Margao started from a rented shop in Antvierza Building.
The Kares from Margao were family friends and his sincere services at Kare's DCI Pharma Ltd led Jyotindra to get sub-distributorship from Ramnath G Kare and his brother late Ashok Kare.
Jyotindra was married to Vrinda, daughter of Balaji Khaunte and Pratibha Balaji Khaunte of Panaji on May 16, 1985. Later, his entire family moved to Margao in 1989 and then constructed a house in Arlem Raia in 1991.
His youngest brother Laxmikant, joined him in 1986. At this point, his father decided to pass the baton to his sons. Pritidas, younger brother of Jyotindra joined business in 1991.
They moved their establishment to ownership premises in Ashirwad Building, Margao in 1995. Jyotindra had a vision and thought of expansion in North Goa and thus started branch offices in Mapusa in 1990 and Panjim in 2016.
Surviving in any business with honesty is not an easy affair. But Jyotindra never compromised on ethics and ventured in retail market with opening of a chemist shop "Sambari Chemist and Druggist" and started CNF namely Sambari Agencies.
Jyotindra faced a major blow when his wife, Vrinda passed away in September 2009. His son Sharmad joined him in 2012. Sharmad is an Engineer and has a Master’s in Business Administration. In May 2015, Jyotindra pioneered to start JPL Global Pvt Ltd, which deals with medicine export.
He was an executive member of Goa Chemist and Druggist Association and was Vice President of this association in the past. He was nominated as a member of the Goa State Pharmacy Council.
In December 2021, he faced another blow on demise of his brother Pritidas. This was extremely painful as Pritidas had his ways to handle business affairs in a silent manner. Sharang, son of Pritidas who is a graduate in Business Administration joined in March 2022. Sambari Enterprises added another feather to its cap when Jyoti Bab with his partners took over Orient Pharma.
Over 40 years he built a successful pharma distribution business along with his brothers. There were times when he has opened the office at midnight in case of medical emergencies.
The sunrise of March 28 was not bright and brought shock waves with Jyoti Bab's sudden demise. He is survived by his son Sharmad, daughter-in-law Ruhi, daughter Tanvi, son-in-law Yugesh Sinai Matha and grandchildren Risha and Ridhaan. A pure soul that has created a vacuum for all the lives he ever touched.
