Survey and demarcation of the kabrastan boundary at the Sonsodo hillock remained incomplete for the second day on Thursday.
A team of survey officials from the department of Survey along with field officials visited the Sonsodo hillock border neighbouring Raia village to carry out the survey, but the team completed only part of the work due to the topography as well as the obstructions atop the hillock.
A surveyor informed that the land acquired for the kabrastan by the Margao Municipal Council needs to be cleaned up before the survey. “Our team could not make it to the hillock since it requires to be cleaned by the MMC,” the official said, adding that the team will return after the area is cleaned.
In the meantime, members of the Muslim community have claimed that survey items which were erected on the acquired land were removed by a person from the locality. They pointed that the authorities, including the police, should initiate necessary action to ensure that the survey and demarcation is carried out without any obstruction.
