VALPOI
The Kadamba passenger bus service to Rive and Golavali in the Thane panchayat area, suspended for four days following the alleged assault of a driver and conductor by local youths, will resume from Monday.
As a safety precaution, the bus will not halt overnight at Rive and is expected to stay at Valpoi or Thane before travelling to Rive and Golavali the following morning.
The incident occurred on Thursday when the driver and conductor were allegedly assaulted while resting at a temple. An attempt was also allegedly made to attack them with a knife.
A youth allegedly involved was taken into custody by Valpoi Police for questioning and reportedly released on Sunday.
Kadamba officials are expected to lodge a formal complaint on Monday. The suspension had inconvenienced students and regular passengers.
