Kalem-Sanvordem double track set to be commissioned

MARGAO

After commissioning the track doubling line on the Sanvordem-Majorda stretch of the South Western Railway a year ago, the railways are bracing up to commission the double track laid on the Kalem-Sanvordem section after the mandatory inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety on Monday.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety, Southern Circle, Bengaluru will conduct a statutory inspection and speed trial run on the new railway track between Kalem to Sanvordem railway stations as part of Tinaighat Vasco double line on March 11.

Ahead of the trial run, the Railways have appealed to the public not to walk through or cross the railway tracks.

Opening of the new double line for public carriage will be done after the certification of the track by the Commissioner of Railway Safety, Bengaluru.

The 10-km Kalem-Sanvordem stretch of the South Western Railways is the second stretch of the track doubling project on the Goa sector that is set for commissioning.

Railway officials said that the Railways are now bracing up for the commissioning of the Majorda-Cansaulim stretch of the double track in the next two months.

A railway official informed that the work on the Cansaulim-Vasco line is presently underway, adding that the railways have not taken up work on Cullem-Kalem for want of certain permissions from authorities.
