MARGAO
Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Sunday said the government will honour all the freedom fighters who had sacrificed their lives for the cause of Goa’s Liberation.
After the media drew his attention that the government has left out a couple of freedom fighters from the list who were honoured on Sunday, Kavlekar said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has taken a decision that the government would felicitate all the freedom fighters.
“No freedom fighter will be left out. Those who could not come will be honoured at their respective residences by bestowing them the honour”, Kavlekar said.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the agriculture portfolio, announced that the agriculture department’s disbursement of subsidy has helped many farmers to avail agricultural schemes.
He also said the schemes unveiled by the government have helped to bring fallow lands under agriculture, saying that coastal and tourist villages including Calangute are now into agriculture.
“Many farmers could not avail subsidies offered by the department in recent years since they had no resources at their disposal to first pay the amount and then claim the subsidy. The at source disbursement of subsidy has now helped farmers to avail the subsidy by paying a nominal amount to claim the subsidy.”
