In a major development in the ongoing investigation, a Vasco Police team on Wednesday night returned to Goa from Dehradun after arresting Madhav Khattar, brother of the main accused, Gautam Khattar.
Following his arrest, Madhav Khattar was handed over to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
On Thursday afternoon, the Crime Branch produced him before the Vasco court amid close public attention on the case.
During the hearing, Madhav Khattar was represented by his lawyer, and arguments were heard from both sides.
After considering the submissions, the court granted four days of police custody to enable further interrogation and investigation into his alleged role.
In a parallel development, the court also issued a non-bailable warrant against the main accused, Gautam Khattar, who is still absconding.
Investigators are now expected to step up efforts to trace him, with multiple leads reportedly being followed by the Crime Branch.
The case, which has drawn significant public and political attention in the region, continues to unfold as agencies work to establish the sequence of events and the involvement of all those linked to the incident.
