Mapusa police have registered a case against Babbit Fernandes for allegedly posting obscene and derogatory content about Hindu deities on social media.

The complaint was filed by Nisha Vernekar of Goyanchi Nari Shakti Sanstha, who stated that the posts hurt religious sentiments and attempted to spread enmity between communities.

On Thursday, members of Hindu organisations, including Jayesh Thali, Omkar Naik and Sujan Naik, also lodged a complaint with Police Inspector Naveen Desai, alleging that Fernandes and another individual made provocative remarks online.

The complainants submitted screenshots as evidence, stating that the content was insulting and disruptive to social harmony.

Police have begun investigations into the matter.
