South Goa MP Narendra Savoikar has expressed satisfaction that people of Khola are taking keen interest to develop their village into an ideal village under the prestigious Sansad Adarsh Gram.

Speaking at the renovation and improvement of LT Distribution Network System (Electricity) to Khola village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram at Khola late Friday evening, Savoikar expressed happiness that Khola is fast developing into an Adarsh Gram (ideal village).

The LT Distribution Network System project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 4 crore and the entire work will be completed over four months to provide and uninterrupted power supply to the entire village.

Local MLA Babu Kavlekar informed that no party politics would hamper the progress of the village.

“As MLA of the region, I will always support any move to promote progress in this village. The long awaited road from Popoidando to Paddi will be completed soon, as well as other works like extending water supply to Khola village from the Salaulim Dam. Party politics should not be allowed to interfere with development,” said the Congress MLA.

On the occasion, Savoikar handed over cheques worth a combined Rs 10 lakh to self-help groups who were awarded for cultivating the famous Canacona Chillies in Khola village.

Others who spoke on the occasion included ZP (Khola) Shanu Velip and Khola Sarpanch Ajay Pagi.

Executive Engineer (Electricity) Santosh Loliyekar compered the programme and later proposed the vote of thanks.
