There seemed no solution yet on the boycott of classes by students of government primary school, Kiskon-Paddi in Quepem taluka.
Students stayed away from the school for the second day today, forcing the deputy Director of Education to visit the school to take stock of the situation. Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa also visited the school premises to take stock of the situation. Incidentally, during an inspection of the school carried out by officials of the Directorate of education, parents and Quepem MLA Altone D'Costa were prohibited from entering the premises, further aggravating the issue.
Parents have stuck to their stand that they will not send their children to the Government Primary School.
The deputy director of Education has said that the parents have raised two issues behind the boycott by their wards. She said the parents have protested over the installation of mobile tower in close vicinity of the school building. Secondly, she said the parents are demanding an alternate site for the government primary school, close to their place of residence.
The deputy Education director has inspected the alternate premises suggested by the parents to run the school. The Parents, however, maintained that they will send their wards to school only after the classes are shifted to the new premises.
