27 children from Tata Memorial Centre visit Goa for 3-day trip

Paediatric cancer children with parents and caretakers arriving at the Margao railway station on their three-day visit to Goa.

In a gesture of compassion and social responsibility, the Konkan Railway has facilitated the travel of 27 paediatric cancer survivors along with their parents and caretakers, totalling 60 passengers, for a recreational and motivational visit to Goa.
The 27 cancer survivors with their parent and caretakers in tow descended at the Margao railway station on Thursday. They will return back to the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai after a three-day stay in the State, during which time they will visit beaches, besides temples and churches.
The visit aims to bring joy, positivity, and a refreshing experience to the young survivors, reinforcing their spirit of hope and resilience.
The initiative was undertaken in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, an institution dedicated to cancer care, research, and rehabilitation. Through this coordinated effort, the young survivors were provided an opportunity to experience a change of environment and enjoy a joyful and memorable journey.
The group travelled from CSMT Mumbai to Margao by Train No. 12133 CSMT Mumbai–Mangaluru Express on 12.11.2025, and will be returning to Mumbai by Train No. 12134 Mangaluru–CSMT Mumbai Express on 15.11.2025.
KRC senior Public Relations Official, Baban Ghatge said “to ensure comfort and ease of travel, a dedicated 3AC berth was arranged for all survivors and their accompanying guardians. Konkan Railway also provided onboard meals and refreshments during the journey, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant travel experience for the group.”
The train arrived at Margao station on Thursday where the group received a warm and heartfelt welcome from Konkan Railway officials. As part of the reception, refreshments were arranged for the participants on arrival, adding to the warmth of the gesture.
Ghatge said the initiative reflects Konkan Railway’s commitment towards supporting community welfare efforts and providing dignified and comfortable travel to passengers with special needs. The journey underscores the corporation’s dedication to meaningful social outreach, especially in partnership with institutions working for humanitarian causes.
Konkan Railway continues to serve as more than a transport service provider, extending support to initiatives that promote hope, dignity, and collective well-being, while celebrating the courage and resilience of those on their journey of recovery, he added.
