Reinforcing its commitment to passenger hygiene, food quality and safety, Konkan Railway initiated prompt action against an unauthorised vendor found selling spoiled fruits onboard Train No. 12052 Madgaon Jn–Mumbai CSMT Janshatabdi Express on May 31, 2026.
Catering services on the train were managed by IRCTC.
The individual was found engaged in the unauthorised sale of spoiled fruits onboard the train. Upon verification, he was found to be operating without valid authorisation or identification. Prompt action was taken as per prescribed procedures, and a penalty was imposed for unauthorised vending. The individual was subsequently handed over to the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Ratnagiri, for further action.
Konkan Railway has launched a 15-day special drive, jointly conducted by its Commercial and Railway Protection Force (RPF) departments, with effect from May 31, 2026, to curb unauthorised vending in trains and ensure a safe, secure and comfortable travel experience for passengers.
Intensive checks are being carried out at stations and onboard trains across the Konkan Railway network, with strict action being taken against violators in accordance with railway rules. The drive aims to safeguard passenger interests by preventing unauthorised sales, overcharging and other irregularities.
