Chairman of Kadamba Transport Corporation Ulhas Tuenkar on Tuesday informed that the government has issued a show cause notice as well as fine on the Hyderabad-based EV manufacturing company for the failure to deliver all 150 electric buses to the KTC.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Goa Revolution Day commemoration at the Lohia Maidan, Margao on Tuesday, Tuenkar said the company has now promised to deliver the buses in the next two months. “We had entered into an agreement with the Hyderabad-based company to deliver 150 EV buses. However, since the company has failed to deliver the buses, a show cause notice and fine amounting to Rs one crore has been issued to the company,” he said, adding that the company has now promised to deliver the remaining buses in the next two months.
Conceding that the KTC is facing an acute shortage of buses with around 50 buses condemned after the vehicles completed 15 years, Tuemkar said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s intervention has helped the KTC place an order for 50 diesel buses which will help manage to tide over the shortage.
“After these 50 diesel buses are brought on the roads, we will deploy these buses on inter-state routes such as Mumbai, Hublic and other places which have been affected due to the shortage,” he added.
