Around 300 employees participated in a meeting held at the Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltdbus stand.
The employees under the banner of the All Goa Government and Semi Government Retired Employees Committee met to decide the future course of action over the pending decision of Goa government since the last 14 years of those employees who have been forcibly retired on completion of 58 years instead of 60 years of age.
Several department employees including Directorate of Transport, Collectorate, Police Department, Land Survey Department, Electricity Department,
River Navigation Department, Government Printing Press, Forest Department, Panchayats, EDC, IDC, Kadamba Transport Corporation, Education Department and Public Works Department (PWD) and various other departments were also present at the meeting.
President of the union, Gajanan Naik said that for the last 13 to 14 years, “many governments fooled employees of 58 years by giving assurance of benefits of retirement, pension benefits and payment of 2 years salary but didn’t give them.”
During the meeting, employees asked the state government to take immediate action before the code of conduct for the panchayat elections and two constituencies bye elections.
A resolution had been passed by the employees to submit a memorandum to all the 38 MLA’s and ministers as well as the Prime Minister of India.
A team of 10 retired employees’ members will submit the memorandum to all ministers and MLAs.
