The Davorlim gram sabha on Sunday resolved to ask the Special Investigating Team to probe into the irregularities in the encroachment and sale of comunidade land in the village.
At the meeting chaired by Sarpanch Herculean Niasso, the gram sabha welcomed the stand taken by the Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar in the House wherein he highlighted the rampant encroachments made on comunidade land.
Participating in the discussions, the gram sabha members said the panchayat should write to the SIT to take over the investigations into the encroachment and illegal sale of comunidade land in the village.
Supporting the discussions, Sarpanch Herculean said the panchayat would communicate the decision of the gram sabha to the SIT to probe into the encroachment and sale of comunidade land.
The sarpanch later told the media that the gram sabha also demanded that the panchayat carry out a tenants verification exercise in the village. He said the members were of the views that since the numbers of tenants staying in the village have increased, there’s been corresponding rise in the garbage generated in the village.
