Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant were among the several leaders and people from all walks of life to visit Union Ayush Minister Shripad Naik’s residence at Sao Pedro-Old Goa on Tuesday to condole the death of his wife, Vijaya Naik.
Throughout the day, people were seen arriving at Shripad's residence to offer their condolences to the three sons Siddesh, Saish, Yogesh and other members of the Naik family.
Prominent among those who arrived at Shripad's residence included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat, Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo, businessman Victor Albuquerque, South Goa ZP Chairperson Suvarna Tendulkar, North Goa ZP Chairperson Kartik Kudnekar, Chimbel ZP member Girish Uskaikar and others.
Speaking to The Goan, Chimbel ZP member Uskaikar recalled that late Vijaya Naik was very active in public life, particularly with regards to issues concerning women.
“She used to hold meetings with Mahila Mandals to understand the problems and provide assistance,” Uskaikar stated.
“If we had to go to New Delhi, she would provide all help to ensure that we had a pleasant stay,” he added.
