The Goan: In one sentence, why should people vote for you?
Sudesh Mayenkar: Calangute needs good leadership and a change from the current crop of politicians who only think about themselves. People are looking for a good candidate. We have been working for every segment of society.
TG: If you are part of the government, which is the first legislation you would like to pass in the assembly?
SM: I would like to pass legislation which will help farmers enjoy equal rights as the owner of the land so that they can avail all the benefits given by the agriculture department.
TG: Which is that one leader outside your party that you admire as a politician and why?
SM: My favourite leader is Manohar Parrikar. I admired him for his pro-activeness and his delivery system. He took quick decisions and kept his word.
TG: Who would be your CM choice, should your party come to power?
SM: Our CM choice is Amit Palyekar.
TG: Do you justify a merger by 2/3rd or do you consider it as a move against the mandate of people? Explain.
SM: Undoubtedly, it is against the mandate of the people. We need to respect the people’s mandate. We are making a mockery of democracy by breaking away and joining another party.
TG: Do you feel the 2022 election will throw a clear winner? Who are your top three finishers along with seats they are likely to win/?
SM: We are confident of forming the government in Goa. The undercurrent amongst the electorate indicates that we are the favourites. Independents are also expected to do well, followed by the BJP and Congress.
