Lobo misinforming Calangute voters: Sequeira

Condemning the Calangute MLA and BJP’s candidate Michael Lobo, Calangute Deputy Sarpanch and Congress candidate Joseph Sequeira said Lobo was misinforming the voters that he would regularize illegal constructions coming under the CRZ area.

“Although Lobo has resigned as the chairman of NGPDA on January 13, he has been making false promises to the electorate that he is still the NGPDA chairman. He also promises to regularize the illegal constructions falling under the CRZ area,” Sequeira said.

Sequeira was addressing a news conference in Calangute along with former MLA, Agnel Fernandes and his supporters on Thursday.

On the occasion, BJP workers Maria Cardozo of Candolim, Narsimha Sayeed and Sudesh Shirodkar along with others joined Congress, giving fillip to Joseph Sequeira’s election campaign.

Speaking further, Sequeira said he will support Agnel Fernandes in Saligao and thanked the GPCC general secretary for ensuring that he (Joseph) gets the Congress ticket for Calangute.

“Though we had differences earlier, we have come together on the same platform. Since Agnel said that he will support me in Calangute, I on behalf of my workers will also support Agnel in Saligao constituency. All my workers, well-wishers and friends from Saligao will work tirelessly for Agnel’s victory in Saligao,” Sequeira said.

“All our supporters from Parra, Arpora, Nagoa, Calangute and Candolim who were with Agnel and Congress have joined me in support of the party,” he added.

Agnel Fernandes said Congress candidate’s campaign got a boost with BJP people joining Joseph Sequeira.

He further said some people were spreading false rumours that Agnel was angry for not getting the ticket from Calangute and therefore was against Joseph.

“Let me make it very clear that I am fully backing Joseph and am totally with him and with the Congress party,” Fernandes said.
