8 from ‘Together for Calangute’ and 10 from ‘Candolim Development Front’ win

The panels backed by Calangute MLA, Michael Lobo swept in all the four panchayats “ Calangute, Candolim, Arpora-Nagao and Parra “ in the constituency.
Eight members of Lobo’s ‘Together for Calangute’ panel were elected in Calangtue, while his ‘Candolim Development Front’ bagged 10 seats out of 11 in Candolim.
Majority of the members elected in Parra and Arpora-Nagoa panchayats were backed by the local MLA.
In his own backyard, the Calangute MLA’s sarpanch wife, Delilah Lobo was re-elected by more than 500 votes in Parra.
The biggest catch of the day for the Calangute MLA was the defeat of former Calangute MLA, Joseph Sequeira.
Sequeira lost by a margin of over 80 votes in a straight fight to Francisco Rodrigues belonging to Lobo’s panel.
The former long-time sarpanch reconciled to the people’s verdict and accepted the defeat gracefully.
