BJP MLA Michael Lobo on Monday urged the Goa Legislative Assembly to appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to play a mediatory role in resolving ongoing global conflicts and help restore peace.
Speaking during the calling attention motion, Lobo said India should step forward diplomatically to help end wars across the world, particularly the crisis in the Middle East. He said that as a country with growing global influence, India can play an important role in facilitating peace.
“Somewhere mediation from our country is needed to bring peace. Our Prime Minister, who is known as a global leader, should mediate to bring peace in the world,” Lobo said.
He further suggested that the Goa Legislative Assembly should pass a resolution urging the Prime Minister to initiate efforts towards global peace and help bring an end to ongoing conflicts.
Referring to the continuing tensions in the Middle East, Lobo said the crisis must be resolved at the earliest as prolonged wars could have wider repercussions.
“The ongoing war needs to stop and the Middle East crisis needs to end. If the war continues, Goa could also face serious repercussions,” he said.
Lobo added that instability in different parts of the world can indirectly
affect states like Goa, particularly through economic and geopolitical impacts, and stressed the need for early diplomatic intervention to prevent further escalation.
