Residents of remote areas of Loliem and Poinguinim at Tirvan, Borus and Idhar marched to meet Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar at his Chaudi office, to complain about the PWD's failure to commence road works inaugurated by the minister in October 2015.
According to sources, many residents were irked that a 4.5-km road from Idhar-Borus-Tirvan, which was launched by Tawadkar last October, has still not seen the light of day and has been virtually abandoned.
Several villagers on Monday marched to meet the sports minister at his office at Chaudi and sought to know why the construction of roads had not progressed beyond an inauguration ceremony.
The minister is learnt to have assured the villagers that he would visit their locality on Tuesday along with the PWD officials.
Incidentally, residents pointed out that Tawadkar in the presence of PWD officers and local panchayat leaders had launched the work of road at Idhar at a cost of Rs 2 crore, also covering the areas at Borus and Tirvan. The road is aimed at connecting two southernmost villages of Loliem and Poinguinim in their remote interiors.
