Colva villagers on Thursday called on South Goa Superintendent of Police, Santosh Desai to question over the delay by the Colva police to register FIR against the Delhi builders as per the complaint filed by Colva fisherman Antonio Rodrigues.
The villagers further pointed out that the transferred Colva Police station in-charge, PI Vikram Naik had no right to go to the Church for a meeting with the Parish Priest, claiming the PI did so in order to prevent the priest from attending the meeting at the Chapel located at the fishing ward.
They further pointed out that the Parish Priest has not given any comment to the media on the police presence at the Colva Church, and wondered how the media has quoted the Parish Priest that the PI had visited him as a courtesy call.
A delegation of Colva villagers along with fisherman Antonio Rodrigues and his family drew attention of the SP, South that the Colva police was prompt in acting upon a complaint lodged by the builders and registered FIR against the fisherman, but is silent in acting against the builders. “Why is the delay on the part of the Colva police to register a cross FIR against the builders based on my complaint,” he asked the SP, South.
After giving the delegation a patient hearing, SP Desai told the media that the police is presently conducting an inquiry into the complaint, adding that necessary action will be initiated as per the law.
He further said that the situation at Colva has returned to normal and there is no incidence of any law and order reported in the village.
