The long weekend has brought in hundreds of domestic tourists almost choking the space-crunched Palolem beach on Saturday, giving a tough time to police personnel in managing vehicles parking woes. Hundreds of tourists had to leave Palolem for want of lodging facilities, and many inter-state vehicles were seen shuffling between Palolem and Agonda beaches looking for rooms as late as Saturday night.
Palolem Councillor Divakar Pagi when contacted said: ‘Yes, a horde of domestic tourists began to drive-in to Palolem but most had to leave for want of accommodation. The accommodation facilities have not been readied in view of extended monsoons and the existing accommodations/rooms got occupied."
The police had a tough time in managing the parking-woes at Palolem. With no space left at the beach coast either in Ourem and main beach entrance, traffic police diverted cars to park on the road from Palolem-Agonda Junction. This however, created traffic snarls on smooth movement of traffic on Agonda road from Palolem Junction to Dhavalikar Hospital at Devabhaga. Traffic police had a harrowing time to control the traffic both at Palolem and at Agonda road till late evening.

Sources informed that hundreds of vehicles with registrations from Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh had been arriving from Polem border, while vehicles with Mahatrashtra Registration were also seen parked/stationed, and also moving along Agonda and Palolem beaches.
