The long-pending repair of the approach road to the newly built bridge near Shri Hanuman Temple at Ambede in Nagargao Panchayat has finally been completed after the issue was highlighted in the local media. Residents welcomed the quick response from the Public Works Department (PWD) but demanded action against the contractor for the delay.
The bridge, built through the efforts of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, had been completed, but the approach road remained unfinished for several days. Although gravel had been laid, the final surfacing was not done, and the absence of warning signs or barricades posed a safety risk.
The damaged road created difficulties for motorists, particularly two-wheeler riders, while around 40 families, including schoolchildren, senior citizens and patients, were affected.
Residents said repeated requests to the contractor went unanswered. Following media reports, PWD officials instructed the contractor to complete the work, which was finished within a day.
Residents urged the authorities to penalise contractors responsible for delays, saying public-funded projects should be completed on time. They also called for stricter monitoring, noting that several development works in Sattari remain incomplete for months, causing unnecessary hardship.
