VASCO
After enchanting Konkani music lovers for several decades, Goan nightingale Lorna Cordeiro may be performing her last show at the Vasco carnival, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida has said.
Almeida along with MMC Chairperson Deepak Naik, Councillor Fredrick Henriques and comitee members convened a news conference on Friday evening to discuss the events to be staged at the Vasco Carnival.
"Lorna will be having a performance in Vasco during the Carnival and it could probably be her last performance or at least, in Vasco. Recently, when she had gone abroad, an announcement was made that this would be her last stage performance," said Almeida.
Stating that the Carnival in Vasco this time would have a Konkani theme and programs would stress on Konkani and Goa, Almeida also informed that the organizing committee had planned to spread the Carnival events to entire Mormugao taluka.
"We will have a vehicle with serenaders and a live band will roam around to every nook and corner of the taluka. We plan to encourage residents of Cortalim, Dabolim and Bogmalo to participate in the Vasco Carnival," said Almeida.
"Events like khel, tiatrs, jaagor etc are being planned this time," said Almeida.
Almeida further informed that the chief guest for this year's Carnival at Vasco would be Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar.
