Stating that the present political scenario has maligned the image of the State, Goa Surakshya Manch (GSM) has demanded the immediate dissolution of government to curb further horse-trading.
Addressing a news conference in the city on Wednesday, GSM vice-president Govind Dev threatened to launch a state-wide agitation to condemn the latest political developments after claiming that BJP was getting Congress MLAs to resign by means of horse-trading and forcing by-elections.
“The GSM will start an awareness drive from October 18 till January 5. During these programmes, we will persuade people to teach a lesson to both national parties,” he said.
“Politicians with vested interests are always power hungry. This is being witnessed by Goans in the present political situation. People elect these politicians and then they join other parties, which is unacceptable as there is lot of expenditure on by-elections,” he said.
Dev further accused former MLA Subhash Shirodkar of entering the BJP for personal gains. Ponda chief of GSM Harshad Devari was also present on the occasion.
