About 1.5 lakh donation coupons released by the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Quepem, were sold out within about 12 hours, as huge crowds queued up since early Saturday morning to buy the prized coupons.
All eyes are now on the donation coupons of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal Sanguem, as donation coupons go on sale on Tuesday.
At Quepem, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Quepem, increased the number of donation coupons from 1 lakh last year to 1.50 lakh this year, with each coupon priced at Rs 500.
Itchit Prabhudessai informed that the Mandal had initially issued two books of donation coupons per person.
However as almost half the donation coupons were sold by afternoon, the committee decided to reduce the cap to just one book comprising 10 coupons per person so that everyone gets the coupon.
At Sanguem, the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal will start selling its donation coupons from 9 am on Tuesday, informed the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal President Tushar Karmalkar.
One lakh donation coupons will be sold for Rs 500 per coupon.
As the committee expects a huge crowd to buy the donation coupons, necessary arrangements will be made to streamline the sale which will take place at the Sanguem bus stand.
The donation coupons will be released by Minister for Social Welfare and Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, informed Karmalkar at a press conference held at Sanguem on Sunday.
Mega prizes will be awarded to the winners at both donation coupons issued by the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals at Quepem and Sanguem.
