SANGUEM
Students attending tuition classes at Cotto-Sanguem had lucky escape after a huge roadside tree came crashing down while they were about to cross the road late Monday evening.
While the students were about to cross the road, they heard a loud sound as they reached near the tree at about 7 pm. They quickly moved away and moments later, the tree came crashing down. One student sustained minor bruises in the incident.
Incidentally, this is the second such incident to take place at Sanguem in recent times.
A woman driver taking driving classes was killed then a tree came crashing down on the car of the driving institute.
After the fatal incident, authorities had conducted a survey of all dangerous roadside trees in the locality and had begun cutting the trees which were identified and marked as dangerous.
After the exercise of cutting the trees for a few days, authorities stopped the operation.
The tree which crashed today was also identified to be dangerous, but authorities had failed to remove it on time.
