Luizinho slams BJP for trying to divide Congress’ votes

With exactly a week to go for curtains to come down on the ongoing poll campaing, State Congress president, Luizinho Faleiro has thrown his trump card on the table “ by accusing the BJP for promoting the multiple regional parties to divide the secular vote in Congress strongholds.

In a clear attempt to hold on to the secular vote, aware that a division would upset the Congress’ apple cart to return back to power, Faleiro on Thursday warned the people of Goa against attempts to divide their votes just as anti-Goan political parties had tried to divide their voters in the Opinion Poll 50 years ago. “BJP along with all these parties want another five years of loot and plunder,” Faleiro said at a media briefing.
He said huge amount of money has been pumped into Navelim by BJP-backed Independent and Goa Forward candidates to take the attention of the Navelim electorate away from the constituency’s core needs of power, water, waste management and maintenance of utilities. “The fight is between fooling people by these two candidates and empowering and enabling them by the Congress’, he  added.
He said the dirty tricks department of the BJP is working overtime to divided the voters, knowing well that the people of Goa are fed up of the promises of parivartan. “They are out to divide the secular vote where they are weak in these constituencies. Goans know the hidden agenda what is now open agenda, to split secular vote with the hope of winning the election”, he said.
Accusing the BJP for resorting to fragmenting Goan votes fearing a Congess resurrection, Faleiro further accused the BJP for backing the birth of multiple parties, money muscle and last minute developments to ensure its bid of coming back to power.
Drawing the attention of the Goan electorate of the BJP’s desperate attempts at dividing the vote in a desperate bid to retain power, Faleiro said the unprecedented number of new regional political parties that seem to have arisen out of nowhere in this election has never been seen in the past. “All this has been cooking only a few months in the run up to the elections to divide secular votes that choose Congress”, he added.
Making a fervent plea to the people to stand by the new faces fielded by the Congress, Faleiro said it was a herculean task to give new and young faces, but hastened to add that the party did make an attempt to promote new faces.

... but gets accused of
conspiring with Parrikar

MARGAO: Goa Forward party leader Vijai Sardesai has hit hard at State Congress president Luizinho Faleiro, accusing the GPCC chief for colluding and conspiring with Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar to get BJP elected to power.
At a march organised by GFP in the constituency on Thursday evening, Vijai pooh poohed Faleiro’s accusation that the regional parties are not out to divide the secular vote.
“Faleiro and the Parrikar should explain Navelkars and Goemkars how and why the BJP has not fielded a candidate in Navelim where Faleiro is contesting the election. Is this not a conspiracy and collusion between the two parties. That’s not all. The GPCC Chief should explain why the Congress has imported a candidate in Saligao when a Bahujan Samaj boy is taking on the might of a land grabber. Is this not collusion and conspiracy between BJP and Congress,” Vijai demanded to know.
