PANAJI
Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Rohit Monserrate on Monday said Councillor Uday Madkaikar is not in his ruling panel.
Madkaikar has shifted his alignment from Rohit's father Babush Monserrate to the Congress and is likely to join the party on September 4.
"Uday is not in our panel now. He has shifted and is about to join the Congress,” said Rohit Monserrate.
He declined to comment further on Uday Madkaikar and said he wanted to focus on other priorities.
“Cables in the city will have tags and all those which do not have a tag will be removed,” said
Former mayors, Uday Madkaikar and Tony Rodrigues, have expressed willingness to contest the assembly elections on the Congress ticket against Babush Monserrate in Panaji and his wife, Jennifer, in Taleigao constituency.
Babush Monserrate has already made it clear that Madkaikar's decision to shift sides would not have any effect on the CCP, as his panel has complete majority.
“It is part of politics. If they feel that they will grow independent and want to grow, I wish them all the best,” he said.
