Accusing BJP office bearers of playing a key role to defeat him in the 2017 Assembly polls, BJP leader and former minister Mahadev Naik on Sunday urged his supporters to gear up in full strength to defeat Subhash Shirodkar in the Shiroda by-poll.
Hitting out at State BJP President Vinay Tendulkar, Naik said it was responsibility of Tendulkar to resign when the BJP was reduced from 26 to 13 seats in the 2017 assembly polls.
“Tendulkar didn’t resign because he wanted to hatch political conspiracies,” Naik alleged adding he was hand-in-glove to defeat Bahujan Samaj leaders. The meeting, held in Shivanathi Shiroda, was attended by around hundred supporters.
BJP Shiroda block president Suraj Naik, Minanath Upadhye, Durgaprasad Vaidya, Tejas Shetkar, Chandrakant Samant, zilla panchayat member Dipak Naik Borkar, Deepika Naik and others were present on the occasion.
Continuing his tirade, he said “BJP had spread the message that Rajendra Arlekar, Rajan Naik, Laxmikant Parsekar, Ganesh Gaonkar, Subhash Phaldesai and I were defeated because we were arrogant. This conspiracy was hatched before elections to defeat Bahujan Samaj leaders”.
“I didn’t meet single person who told me that I am arrogant. This was all created to defeat me”, he reiterated. “The BJP office bearers played vital role to defeat us. Vinay Tendulkar worked against Ganesh Gaonkar... he needs to answer why he did this”, Naik said.
He clarified that his US trip was fixed much in advance. “My daughter is pursuing further studies and hence I along with my wife went there to help her. All this happened in my absence and BJP didn’t take me in confidence before admitting Shirodkar”.
Urging his supporters to gear up for the forth-coming by-poll, he said, “we need to teach Subhash Shirodkar a lesson. He has got lot of money for switching sides. We don’t know where he will use this money. But I know that this election would see a fight between morality and power”, Naik said.
“People will not forgive Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar for what they have done. We will defeat Subhash Shirodkar, that is sure. I will show him his place”, he said.
